I’ve been debating about whether to buy a new camera and if so, what, but yesterday a friend convinced me to go back to 4×5 film for this project. It’s still possible to buy it (although it’s doubled in price since 2007), so I’m going to give it a try. I haven’t worked with my 4×5 in several years, although I feel regret every time I see it sitting there. I bought a box film this morning and experienced a huge amount of anxiety about it. I’ve been trying to convince myself about the inevitability of digital for so long now, that this feels very strange.

My plan will be to revisit the locations that resulted in the best digital pictures with my field camera and compare.

I went to see Drawing and Disfiguration at MOMA yesterday. This is newspaper transfer using rubber cement thinner with pencil over it. I would like to try to get the transfers darker.
